What is Heart Failure?
Heart failure is a condition when the heart muscle is unable to pump blood as well as it were. Some disease such as ischemic heart disease or prolonged high blood pressure may gradually cause the heart to be weakened and its capacity of filling and pumping blood would be reduced. Symptoms start to appear when body do not have adequate amount of fresh blood in circulation. It is a long-term condition requiring treatment and the patient to take care of themselves for optimal outcome. Heart failure is classified into 4 stages ranging from just having risk factors until heart failure with severe symptoms.
